How QR codes built into our floor heating thermostats save tech support staff time and improve customer satisfaction.

Every support technician knows the feeling. A customer calls for help with their floor-heating thermostat – but can’t say what model it is, what the display shows, or even where to find key settings. What starts as a quick question can turn into a time-consuming exercise in guesswork.

 

Many OJ Microline® floor-heating thermostats include a simple feature that changes all that: An integrated QR-code function. With this easily found and shared code, support teams can identify issues, guide customers, and resolve problems faster than ever – usually without leaving the desk.

A Better Way to Troubleshoot

OJ Microline® thermostats operated via a display or app automatically generate a unique QR code that summarizes its key information – from serial number and software version to current settings, operating data and energy readings.

When a homeowner contacts support, they can be asked to open the thermostat’s menu or app and either take a picture of the QR code and send it to the support technician or click View as text to access data for sharing.

Once the support technician receives the data, they can read it and instantly see what’s going on with that specific thermostat – as if they were standing in front of it. They can confirm setup details, identify configuration errors, or provide precise guidance to restore operation.

It’s a simple process that solves one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: Bridging the gap between end users’ limited product knowledge and the detailed information support teams need to respond quickly and accurately.

Real-World Use

As with all OJ products, the QR-code feature was developed with installers and service professionals in mind. It works directly through the thermostat’s display or app – no special service app, log-in or integration needed – and requires almost no instruction.
