A strong start at OJ Electronics

Why our onboarding process sets new employees up for success

When new colleagues join OJ Electronics, we want them to feel welcomed, well-prepared, and part of our organization from day one. That’s why our onboarding program is deliberately structured, surprisingly comprehensive, and – according to people who’ve been through it – far more extensive than what you might expect from a company of our size.

Over the past few months, several new hires have completed the program. We spoke with two of them, Mette Rathcke and Rasmus Alsbo Nielsen, about their first weeks at OJ. Their experiences echo what many others have said: That OJ’s onboarding stands out for its thoroughness, warmth, and focus on helping people understand the bigger picture.

Three weeks with a full calendar

Mette Rathcke joined OJ in September 2025 as part of our Supply Chain team, working primarily with the purchasing of raw materials and international freight. Although she comes from our part of Denmark, and was already familiar with OJ as a company, she says she was not prepared for just how structured the onboarding would be.

“I was really surprised to see my calendar completely filled for the first three weeks,” she says. “It was very clear that they had prepared thoroughly for a new employee. I learned a lot – not just about my own job, but about other departments too.”

For Mette, that cross-department insight was especially valuable. Coming from other roles where teams didn’t always have time to help newcomers, she found OJ’s approach refreshingly different.

“People were incredibly welcoming and open. I felt secure from day one. I could ask anything, and they made sure I met the right people. The formal instruction was also impressive – templates and processes were given high priority, which helped me understand how things are done here.”

Professional, clear, and supportive

Rasmus Alsbo Nielsen, who joined OJ as a UI/UX Designer – also in September 2025 – had previously worked for a large Danish bank. He describes his first weeks at OJ as “a good and professional start,” not least because of the clarity built into the onboarding structure.

“There was a clear process from day one,” Rasmus explains. “We even started as a small group, which created an enjoyable shared experience. I gained a solid understanding of how the company works and met people from across the organization.”

For Rasmus, the onboarding offered a level of orientation normally associated with much larger organizations.

“It reminded me of the bigger companies I’ve worked for – maybe even with more meetings and more people involved,” he says.

One highlight for both Rasmus and Mette was the early meeting with Managing Director Anders Høgh-Skov, who personally welcomes new hires and introduces them to OJ’s ownership structure, strategy and values.

Although supported by his team, Rasmus notes that he quickly got into his role independently – exactly as the program intends.

“It worked the way it should. It just worked well.”

A small company with a big approach

OJ’s onboarding program typically spans several weeks and includes:

  • A welcome session with the managing director
  • A structured schedule covering all departments
  • A dedicated mentor from day one
  • Process and systems training
  • Hands-on introductions to products and production
  • Regular check-ins during the first months

Many new employees have told us they didn’t expect this level of structure from a company of OJ’s size. But at OJ, being small does not mean being unprepared – if anything, it means people take personal responsibility for giving new colleagues the best possible start.

More than information – a sense of belonging

While the system and structure matter, both Mette and Rasmus emphasize another theme we hear repeatedly: people feel welcome here.

From warm introductions to the openness of colleagues, that sense of belonging is intentionally built into the onboarding journey. It’s what turns information into confidence, and what makes those first weeks feel safe, social, and motivating.

So if you’re a new employee or someone considering a future with OJ Electronics, our goal is simple: To make sure your first weeks here give you everything you need to feel confident, supported, and part of the OJ family.

As Mette puts it:

“You really feel that OJ wants you to succeed from Day One.”

And as Rasmus adds:

“You get the support you need – but also the space to get into things yourself.”
