OJ Electronics is looking for a hardware development manager to lead one of the core development units within our R&D organization. This is a central leadership role focused on strengthening both engineering capability and development capacity across our product portfolio.

OJ Electronics – a Danish producer of HVAC drives, AHU controllers, and thermostats for electric floor heating – is looking for an experienced engineering leader to join our R&D organization in Sønderborg, Denmark.

In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 10 specialists within hardware and mechanical engineering, supporting the continued development of new products and technologies across OJ’s three main product areas. You’ll combine people leadership, technical understanding, resource coordination, and process improvement in a dynamic development environment with close collaboration across R&D, product management, and senior leadership.

As part of OJ’s broader R&D leadership team, you’ll help shape development priorities, strengthen engineering processes, and contribute to an organization where ideas quickly become action.

Your role


As hardware development manager, you’ll be responsible for the daily leadership and continued development of OJ’s hardware team.




Your specific responsibilities will include:


  • Leading and developing the hardware team
  • Supporting employee development and long-term competence building
  • Allocating development resources across projects and priorities
  • Participating as part of OJ’s R&D leadership team alongside fellow department leaders
  • Collaborating with external development partners
  • Managing budgets and follow-up activities for hardware development
  • Contributing to process optimization and continuous improvement across development activities

Must-have qualifications


  • Engineering degree in electronics or a related technical field
  • Leadership experience – preferably within product development or technical organizations
  • Strong technical understanding of electronics and hardware development
  • Experience leading technical specialists and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong communication skills in both Danish and English
  • Structured leadership approach with focus on collaboration, overview, and execution
  • Ability to balance empathy and listening skills with clear decision-making when needed



Nice-to-have qualifications


  • Experience working with hardware development and MCAD/ECAD tools
  • Experience working with development processes in companies with dedicated R&D organizations
  • Understanding of both technical development and organizational process improvement
  • Experience collaborating with external development partners
  • Interest in leadership development and building strong engineering teams
